Positive advice

I have this burning urge to get this off my chest, how come people are so eager and willing to give advice, any amount of it, for free just as long as it is negative. Maybe I am just being sensitive here but recently I have had occasion to notice that there it is almost an act of pleasure for ones friends and even family to dole out their unconstructive opinions.
A short time ago my partner came across an excellent offer to take over a small restaurant. As it had long been his dream to run his own place he was thrilled and jumped at the offer. Instead of a pat on the back or any other type of encouragement there was a rush of people informing him that the place had never done well in the past, due to the refurbishing required it was no bargain after all, no one in their right mind would take on a place like that and on it went. Fortunately he is not the quitting type, therefore this counsel went in one ear and out the other and to his delight and mine it is doing well.
Next we come to myself, I too left my nine to five job as a spa therapist to open up a health salon and again I was met with nothing but downbeat guidance, how could I be so foolish as to leave a financially safe job, health and leisure are very unreliable sources of income, it will all end in tears and so forth, once again I am happy to say that this has not been the case. Thirdly when through my health business I was introduced to a Network Marketing company which deals in chemical free products I was thrilled and immediately threw myself into and once again despite the fact that my team continues to grow both thanks to my efforts on and offline, I am constantly confronted with people spewing disapproval and pessimism. My question is what is it that people love about putting others and their ideas down? Especially since more often than not this “advice” is dished out arbitrarily without the people concerned even knowing what they are actually being negative about, as is the case with MLM. My mother always used to teach us “if you haven’t got anything pleasant or useful to say… don’t say anything, listen and learn”

Take a Chance

It always fascinates me that people are so afraid of trying something new even if somewhere deep down inside of themselves they know that it will be of benefit to them. It seems to have become second nature to most people to look for the negative, or to try to find the catch. What I wonder is, what came first the chicken or the egg? I mean is it because people have been burnt once too often that this general atmosphere of diffidence prevails or is it that before we even give something a chance we build up all sorts of negative ideas in our minds? therefore closing all doors before we have even opened them.
Not so many years ago business was concluded with a hand shake. If someone was offering a job opportunity the millions of doubts that spring to people’s minds today just wouldn’t have then. There is no doubt that in today’s world scams are a dime a dozen however I can’t help feeling that too many people miss out on so much in life simply because they hang out in the depths of caution at all times. What ever happened to taking a risk, being bold, going out on a limb, grabbing an opportunity when it knocks.
Like I already mentioned in previous blogs there are a bunch of things which are so important in life if one really wants to get the best out of it: courage, allowing oneself to dream, being positive even in the face of adversity, learning from ones mistakes and from the knocks along the way and finally knowing what one wants and doing all that is humanly possible to get it.
Once I started really doing these things and opening myself up to the millions of possibilities around me, my life made a huge leap forward. I hope that all of you out there will give it a try so as to take your lives a giant step closer to achieving all you desire.

Till next time.
To your success
Mimi
